Anyone lucky enough to be at the Gardens Sunday morning witnessed Fylers hockey at some of its best in months. Whatever SCHL recruitment rules are being broken, we don’t care. We want every Fylers’ game like this.
What's that? You decided not to brave the Galleria traffic and instead placed your faith in our local SCHL network affiliate only to find the broadcast interrupted by an Everybody Loves Raymond rerun? It was the one where Ray shirks domestic responsibilities to and play golf, only Debra finds and they shout at each other for twenty two minutes. It was the Heidi game all over again.
For those fans out there were denied their Sunday hockey communion, immediately focus your wrath at SCHL commissioner and Fylers owner Ted Marave. Marave, who signed away the television rights to Fylers hockey in 2005 for allegedly $0.35, has repeatedly defended the move as the “…most I could possibly get at the time.”
That’s of little condolence to the dozens of people who missed the culmination of a tremendous Sunday of hockey, the return of veteran Mike Harris, and the debut some very impressive Fylers rookie talent.
Don’t get caught this weekend wading through another interminable episode in which Robert laments Raymond’s status as the preferred child and Frank meanders through a hilarious chauvinistic tirade. This Sunday at 9am, beg, borrow or steal your way to Brentwood Gardens.
