Veteran goalie Dave Bain administered a healthy albeit figurative spanking to rookie Joel Lewis as Fylers hockey returned to the Tilles complex last Sunday.
The Fylers recalled Lewis from their affiliate Hermann Monsters this week with the hopes three weeks in the minors would do the freshman goaltender good. Four games and sixteen goals later there were more questions than answers.
With God renounced and spring around the corner, the last thing the Fylers need is a goaltending controversy.
Dave Bain knows this, which is why on Sunday the seasoned goalie did his best to quash the brewing Dave Bain vs. Joel Lewis debate.
"I know I had some harsh words for the newcomer early on, but whatever happens from here, it's going to be for the good of the team," Bain said in the post-game press conference.
Fylers forwards and defenseman stayed out of the netminders fray letting actions speak louder than words. Donald Williams returned after sidelined the last few weeks with a lower back strain and infantile fear of a little cold weather.
Williams, Frain and Brooks looked strong in games one and two with Seeger, Bayer and Hess getting some retribution in games three and four. The Fylers will return to Tilles this Sunday March 11th at 9am.
